Vestra Vera Press Interviews Me The Mountain
If you are a fan of bands such as Underoath or The Chariot, then take a listen to Me The Mountain from San Jose, California. Recently signed to indie label Sancrosanct Records, the up-and-coming band is well on their way to making their music heard nationwide, starting with a summer tour.
Confirmed Tour Dates:
As some of you might have known, Vestra Vera Press was going to put on a benefit show in order to raise money for those struggling from the natural disasters that occurred in the U.S. and Japan earlier this year. Unfortunately, and as much as this pains me to say, Mending the Mess has been cancelled for many different reasons but mainly because of venue cancellation.
Know that the folks over here at Vestra Vera Press are extremely disappointed, but that doesn’t mean that we should stop from supporting the people who are experiencing daily struggles because of these tragedies. Donate now to the American Red Cross today!
Thank you all for your help and understanding!
-VVP Team (Megan, Sian, and Sami)

If you are fans of Envy on the Coast, Say Anything or Circa Survive, I The Mighty is the band for you! I The Mighty is a progressive/alternative band from San Francisco, California. Their unique personalities and their passion for what they do was revealed when I had the opportunity to sit down with Brent Walsh (Lead Vocalist & Guitarist), Ian Pedigo (Guitarist) and Blake Dahlinger (Drummer) after opening for Forever the Sickest Kids and Anarbor at Slim’s in San Francisco.
The band’s catchy name, I The Mighty, was not their original name. A record label in San Francisco, that no longer works with the band, thought the band needed a new name.
Originally, the band name was Breakpoint. The guys had to make a quick decision and the name I The Mighty fit the bill. “The name I The Mighty actually came from one of our older songs called ‘I The Mighty Defeatist’,” says guitarist, Ian.
Brent explains how the band came together: “Ian and I were an acoustic duo for a while. When we were starting to look for other members, we met Blake at a show of ours and Chris was in a practice space next to ours. Chris would do some background vocals and some bass parts, we became friends and, well, here we are.”
I The Mighty likes to start the writing process with Brent’s lyrics. Blake says, “We like to describe our music in a view of a songwriter aspect. Brent’s lyrics are a really important part of our music; we enjoy story telling through our music.” As the process continues, band members contribute their own element to the song. As Brent said, they like to “jam it out.” Ian explains how they handle when creativity is blocked. “A way for me to get rid of it is when I discover a new band. Listening to new music inspires me to write new music. Also, going on vacation is a good way to get inspired. The different sceneries you see can really help.”
Ultimately, the band’s goal is to be able to connect to people through a rhythmic and melodic level. Their incredible stage presence and dedication to their music is inspiring for other musicians. I The Mighty has consistently shown their musical growth in the local music scene. They prove this by their recent signing with Equal Vision Records (Congratulations guys). This summer they will be releasing a new EP and going on tour with A Lot Like Birds in July. Check out their music on their website (It’s AMAZING): http://www.ithemighty.com

from Nick Santino of A Rocket To The Moon:
So I was driving back to my house last week listening to New Found Glory. It was sunny out in Massachusetts (for once) so of course the pop punk playlist comes out to play. One of my favorite songs from this band is Dressed To Kill and have always wanted to do my own version of it… And so I got home and recorded it in my basement. Added some mandolin and lap steel for dramatic effect, and now I give you Dressed To Kill. Enjoy.
Nick
This gets a total thumbs up. One of my favorite songs redone by an amazing artist. What’s everyone else think of this one?

Devin Ingelido, the now-former bassist of VersaEmerge has parted ways with the band. Below you can read two statements concerning the situation: one from Devin, and one from VE’s remaining members, Sierra and Blake.
Hello Vultures
It is with sadness that we would like to announce that May 7th will be Devin’s last show with VersaEmerge. There are absolutely no hard feelings and we 100 percent support his decision to leave and be with his wife and newborn baby. If you plan on coming out to see us on the remaining dates of the Alternative Press tour please say hello to Devin and give him a fond farewell.
VersaEmerge will continue on and as strong as ever. We are excited to head to the UK and Europe next month for our first headline tour overseas and to begin writing new songs this summer. We cannot wait to see everyone!
-Blake and Sierra
____________________________________________________
Four years and many memories later, it has finally come time for me to throw in my tour towel. Recently I married the love of my life and witnessed the birth of my son and find it harder and harder to leave the two most amazing things in my life. As a band we have accomplished so many things together and in no way will I regret how far we have grown as a band. With that being said, I encourage each and every one of you to continue to support Blake and Sierra through the rest of their musical endeavors as VersaEmerge. Despite me leaving I know deep in my heart that Versa will continue to translate their perspective on life and transcribe it into the amazing sounds you know and latch on to. Thank you all for all the support, love, and on going excitement you have shown the band and I through all the things that tried to bring us down. And as for me.. I will continue to pursue being the best husband and father and the rest will fall into place. God Bless!
Devin Ingelido
How do you feel about Devin’s decision to leave Versa and be with his family?

Due to the highly unfortunate situation of their vocalist suffering a stabbing, Such Gold were led to drop off of the Manscout Jamboree Tour. The band will, however, hold to performing on their upcoming tour with Skylar from Building filling in on vocals.
The following is a statement from Kotin:
First of all I would like to apologize for pulling out of the Manscout Jamboree tour so last minute but I assure you that we would not bail on such an amazing tour without a good reason. There have been a lot of rumors flying around the Internet and I think it’s about time to clarify things. About three weeks ago I was stabbed multiple times outside of a party. I can’t go into any details but I will say that I’m lucky to be alive. I want to thank all my friends and band mates who saved my life. I’m very sorry to leave you all to decipher whether the rumors were true or not for so long but I felt it was necessary to keep to myself for a certain period of time.
There’s no telling exactly when I will be well enough to perform again but Such Gold will be doing some dates in the month of May with one of my best friends Skylar, from an awesome Massachusetts based band called Building, filling in for me. I ask that you treat him with as much respect as you would me or anyone in this band. Again I’m very sorry to leave you to speculate on what happened for so long. I can’t wait to get back on the road and hang with all the amazing friends and fans that I’ve met over these past few years. I also want to thank everyone who did know about this for their love and support throughout these past few weeks. Every day I wish we could be hanging out with The Wonder Years, Fireworks, Make Do And Mend and Living With Lions but soon enough Such Gold will be coming back harder than ever and I can’t wait!
Best wishes to Ben during his recovery.
The results of the Josh Beech & The Johns contest will be posted! I know everyone has been waiting patiently. We wanted to make sure that everyone got a chance to enter. We’ve got an insane amount of entries to go through. Please do not enter any later than Sunday night. I will check it once Monday morning and get all of the names into the hat. Then Monday night I’ll post the winners! If you haven’t entered yet. Hurry! Only Two days left!
VVP headed out to the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco to see This Century play with The Relay Company and Good Charlotte. Before the show, we had the chance to sit down with Joel Kanitz (Lead singer of TC) and Alex Silverman (bassist of TC) and ask them a few questions (Video above) in the smallest dressing room known to man. Great couple of guys, really fun interview. We talked about Skyler, brotherly love, their tour with The Maine, and how exciting it was for them to have the chance to tour with Good Charlotte. Afterward, we headed back out to the floor to watch them play. This was VVP’s first This Century show and it was amazing. The band did not disappoint. They have their CD release shows coming up. One today, April 18th at Chain Reaction in Anaheim. Then again on April 19th at Martini Ranch. Good friends John O’Callaghan, Jared Monaco, Austin Gibbs and Sweettalker will also be joining the stage. Be sure to check it out and buy the new album on April 19th. We did! After the release show, they’ll be heading out on tour with Go Radio and Sparks The Rescue. Go out and see them when they come to your town.
